Parnell Sink Hole

Late September 2023 a sinkhole appeared in the middle of St Georges Bay Rd Parnell causing major environmental problems to Auckland’s waterways.

March Cato Ltd, contracting to Watercare, called Ian Howe Concrete Pumps  knowing we had the specialised technical equipment and knowledge required for the job.

We used a concrete spray unit with chemical dosing system which provided rapid setting accelerant to the concrete at the spray nozzle. Our nozzleman was suspended in a cage over the hole being stabilised from above, with anchor ropes either side. With a very tight schedule we were able to stabilise the sink hole walls to allow safe entry for those working to remedy the sink hole problem.

With a good team effort of all contractors involved at extremely short notice, we successfully stabilised the access allowing for the next stage of this urgent project to commence safely.
