America's Cup
Wynard Quarter Wharves Renovation
Wynyard Edge Alliance-America's Cup
New Zealand won the hosting rights for America's Cup requiring a huge renovation of the Wynyard Quarter Wharves.
Ian Howe Concrete Pumps were the only concrete pumping company that had both long reach boom pumps and distance pumping equipment available. Due to access issues we had a static Sany line pump situated at the start of Hobson wharf with 300 lineal metres of static pipeline running to the end of the wharf. This pipeline fed into our 47m reach boom pump reaching off the end of the wharf to tremie piles being poured, we also poured the wharf slabs this way.
We then moved to Halsey St wharf and Hamer St silo area to continue with the upgrades. This included pumping onto a barge running a static pipeline across two more barges to our 18m spider boom which placed concrete into tremie lines for piles. Our pump crew were ferried by boat each morning the reach the static pipelines and spider boom.
